For more than three decades, Intel Corporation has developed enabling technology that has changed the world. Founded in 1968 to build semiconductor memory products, Intel introduced the world's first microprocessor in 1971. Today, Intel supplies the computing and communications industries with chips, boards, systems and software building blocks that are the "ingredients" of computers, servers, and networking and communications products. These products are used by industry members to create advanced computing and communications systems. Intel's mission is to be the preeminent building block supplier to the Internet economy.
Alliance Overview
iPass and Intel formalized a multi-year agreement in 2002 to improve the wireless experience on future notebook PCs through advancing ease of use and more secure wireless connectivity to the Internet. Under the agreement, the first phase of the collaboration focuses on enabling simple and predictable wireless connectivity on notebook PCs based on Intel's forthcoming Centrino mobile technology.
iPass and Intel will validate the interoperability between future releases of the iPassConnect™ client and Intel Centrino mobile technology-based notebooks with the Intel WLAN Network Interface Card. PC manufacturers, IT departments and mobile end users alike will benefit from a common, simple interface for dial-up, wired and public wireless access worldwide.
